There seems to be

Hopefully this will relay some fears, should the increase me votes in. Council Tax There seems to be a bit of hysteria regarding the increase of Council Tax, based upon the Police Crime Commissioner and also the Fire Authority increase. The Council, on the 22nd February will vote whether or not to increase Council tax to 4.9 whatever the PCC Fire Authority decide. On the matter of the PCC Fire Brigade, the Council cannot make any adjustments to this figure. The PCC is looking to increase its precept by 5.6 and the Fire Authority are looking to increase its precept by 2.9. Although 4.9 5.6 2.9 a massive increase, please dont be alarmed. Because the PCC Fire Authority receive a small amount in comparison to the overall Council Tax, and it this amount that is increasing by 5.6 and 2.9, not the overall bill. Therefore should the 4.9 Ctax increase be voted for, the overall, total of the rise for Hartlepool Residents would be 4.9 To clarify, I am not playing down the significance of this potential increase and will not be agreeing to the 2 rise in Council Tax. I do however believe that we have little choice but to agree the 2.9 for our vulnerable Children and Adults due to the massive pressures the service is currently facing.
