Update on the infamous Longscar Hall Good evening all,
I have just recieved this information from HB

Update on the infamous Longscar Hall Good evening all, I have just recieved this information from HBC Officers as to the current situation with the Longscar fire and current state of the building. The building has suffered significant fire damage and HBC Structural Engineers have been out and carried out a full site inspection Services have been advised not to enter the building as the extent of internal damage to the structural fabric could not be established with any certainty. Extensive damage to the south elevation roof structure and external brickwork free standing piers to the west elevation were noted. Parts of these areas contained cracking as a result of high fire temperatures and were in an unstable condition. The Rocket car park remains closed and will not open until HBC are satisfied that southern elevation is not a dangerous structure and likely to collapse. This will be subject to a safety inspection. The Police investigation is continuing and eye witnesses are being sought, please contact the Police on 101. The building has been passed back to the owners, who are responsible for any risk that the building imposes. Demolition of those areas deemed a risk to the owners has started and may continue over the coming days. It is unlikely we will see a full demolition of the Longscar Hall (at this stage), however any further demolition would be subject to the correct procedures. The Council, with the Fire and Rescue Service and the Police will continue to work with the owners to reduce any risks to the public. The advice continues to be, please do not enter the cordoned off areas. The owners and the Council hope to discuss the future of the site at some point in the near future.
