Officers conducting Operation Impact in Hartlepool last night, Saturday 31st August 2019, noted dens - Sunday 01 September 2019
By Hartlepool Alert
Officers conducting Operation Impact in Hartlepool last night, Saturday 31st August 2019, noted dense smoke drifting over parts of Seaton Carew and traced the smoke back to a large grass fire on the area behind Tees Bay Retail Park. Officers requested Cleveland Fire Brigade UK attendance and guided them in to the area in order to extinguish the fire. There is no evidence at this time that the fire had been deliberately set but this serves as a reminder of how easily fire can spread in areas of dry grassland and how something such as an unextinguished cigarette could potentially cause a large fire. If you witness a fire being set please report it by dialling 999. You can report suspected arsonists confidentially by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Pic Credit HNPT
