Officers found 1183 drivers who were speed

!!1183 Drivers Found Speeding during TwoWeek Crackdown!! Officers found 1183 drivers who were speeding during a twoweek crackdown across Cleveland and Durham. The national campaign began on Monday 12th August. The latest crackdown shows that 84 drivers were found speeding on each day of the campaign, with some drivers travelling at more than double the speed limit, with one driver clocked travelling at 49mph in a 20mph zone in Middlesbrough. Inappropriate speed contributes to around 11 of all injury collisions reported to the police, 15 of all crashes resulting in serious injury and 24 of all fatal collisions nationally. Inspector Jon Curtis, from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, said The purpose of this campaign is to save as many lives as we possibly can. The vast majority of drivers caught driving at excessive and at times extremely unsafe speeds during this campaign have made a conscious decision to do so, they have made a choice to place themselves and others at risk, there is no excuse. Unfortunately all too often we see firsthand the devastation that can be caused by these drivers. Id ask those people how they would feel if one of their loved ones was killed by a speeding driver. We have seen speeding drivers take the lives of other innocent road users and we have seen families destroyed through their irresponsible behaviour. Our aim is to prevent further incidents like this wherever possible.
